FROM THE DESK OF
HON. VICE CHANCELLOR
India's strength lies in its rich knowledge tradition, which has illuminated the path of the
world for centuries. Our scriptures and culture embody a living scientific knowledge system,
offering profound insights that are as relevant today as they were in ancient times.
However, with the rise of modern science and globalization, there has been a tendency to
overlook India's Knowledge Systems (IKS) in mainstream education.
IKS can provide valuable solutions to contemporary challenges, especially in areas like
health, agriculture, and sustainable living. Good governance, or Sushasan, is a key aspect
inherited from India's ancient culture and ethos.
The National Education Policy recognizes the importance of IKS and mandates two credit
courses on Indian culture and traditions in the first years of both undergraduate and
postgraduate programs across the country. At Gujarat University, we have embraced this
initiative wholeheartedly, integrating the depth and richness of IKS into our syllabus.
By incorporating IKS into our curriculum, we aim to instill a sense of pride in our heritage
and encourage students to delve deeper into their roots. The wisdom of the past holds the
key to a brighter future, enriching not only our lives but also those of future generations.
As depicted in the Srimad Bhagwad Gita, the philosophy of education guides our path:
तु ते गु तमं व या यनसूयवे । ानं व ानस हतं य ा वा मो यसेऽशुभात्
"I shall now reveal to you this most secret wisdom, coupled with the knowledge of how to
put it into practice. Knowing this wisdom, you will be freed from the miseries of the world."
Let us embrace our heritage, learn from it, and pave the way for a more enlightened future.
With this I would like to wish all the very best to all the readers and congratulate
Department of Business Intelligence on successful release of 7th Edition of Montage, their
flagship newsletter. Appreciation to the Editorial team and all the very best for future

Best Wishes,
Dr, Neerja A Gupta
